The Fireplace Center and Patio Shop is proudly family owned, currently under the stewardship of President Andy Cotnam, and a true Ottawa original. In 1952 Andy’s father, Clifton Cotnam, founded Advanced Prefabs, selling home kits from a display court on Richmond Road, Ottawa. Even then Fireplaces played a key role resulting in the opening of the first Fireplace Center store as a subsidiary on Boyd Avenue, Ottawa in 1974. More images of the original store...

Social Responsibility
The Fireplace Center is a socially responsible member of the Ottawa community not only by providing employment for 45 employees (some with us for more than 30 years) and countless subcontractors but also as a major supporter of charities such as the United Way. In addition to our President Andy Cotnam’s role as United Way Account Executive whose responsibilities include motivating local businesses to contribute to the campaign, our staff organize numerous fundraising events. The proceeds from which are matched by donations by The Fireplace Center and Patio Shop. Due to our involvement in the Big Brother/ Big Sister organization we have received a national award this year.
