Mosquiti Magnet Fatal Attraction for Mosquitoes
Blood-seeking insects, including mosquitoes, sandflies (no-see-ums), and black flies navigate to a host by following the carbon dioxide emitted from that host. Researchers have identified the receptors and the particular neuron used to navigate.
The patent pending technology inside the Mosquito MagnetTM catalytically produces the proper mix of carbon dioxide, water vapour, and humidity, then emits a plume of carbon dioxide to attract the biting insects. They are drawn to the source of the plume where they are vacuumed into a net and are dehydrated.
A standard 20 lb. propane tank makes the Mosquito MagnetTM easy to use. The fuel tank lasts three weeks, burning 24 hours a day. No electricity or batteries are required on the Pro model. The Mosquito MagnetTM will continuously reduce the female biting insect population within up to 1 acre. The Mosquito MagnetTM Defender and Liberty models require low voltage electricity that is supplied with a power transformer and a 50 foot cord which can be places near insect breeding and resting sites. It may sound simple, but in reality the receptor/neuron identification, insect behavior patterns, sophisticated carbon dioxide generator, and electronics of the Mosquito MagnetTM have taken years to develop, by working closely with the state department of environmental management, the U.S.D.A. and the US Center of Disease Control. The years of development and testing have allowed American Biophysics to refine the Mosquito MagnetTM so that in independent testing in the Florida Everglades, the device was able to trap in excess of 100,000 per night. Over 150,000 units are currently in service
